So, I just saw this sale: 225 ebooks for $49 which I think ends tomorrow? on a list. It looks great, but I have an iPad and therefore we can read the books on Mainlesson.com for free. If all of them are on there. If you have bought the e-book package or other kindle/epub books from Yesterday's Classics, can you tell me if it is worth it, what you like better than reading them on line? If I had a Kindle rather than an iPad, I would totally see the point. But since my dh spent a bit more on an iPad last year, it seems I might as well use our wireless and read the books online ( or have my son do so.) Any thoughts?
P.S. In my mind, really, I'd rather get them as book books if I'm going to spend any money. :)

One thing I notice is that there are books you can't access for free on Baldwin -- they're listed, but the chapter titles aren't clickable links. I've always just worked around this, but it would be nice to be able to acces some of these.
I'm looking at the list and kind of . . . drooling, here. We use Baldwin a LOT, and while I'd rather have the book-books, $50 vs. $250 is a pretty good deal . . . though if I were buying book-books, I wouldn't buy every single one of these.
Not decided, but this does look good in many ways.

I got it on special last year, and it is a good value, imo. I like being able to access it through the reading Apps rather than the web--much easier for assigning books to be individually read (they have their own bookshelf in my iBooks App). There is bookmarking, easy access, etc... that just makes the books easier to use than reading online.
And yes, some of the books are not available at Baldwin, though I can't recall if I'm actually using those or not.
I felt a certain amount of security in owning the files--like, if there were a zombie apocalypse and these were the only books I could use, my child would probably have an excellent education.
My one disappointment as been in how difficult it is to print the books from Adobe Digital Reader. I haven't tried it in a while, but I recall the print being small on the poetry book I want to print pages from, and there wasn't much you could do to manipulate it to make it more user friendly. I had anticipated their being printable as a bit more useful than it has proven for me. I was able to use the files to print sheets with the book cover on one side and the chapter listing on the other so that there was a physical "book" to keep with the school books as a representation as well as a place to check of what was read and keep track as we go about.
Also, you get the full color illustrations from books that YC publishes in B&W physically. You can print those as well if desired (but perhaps you can do this online).

Lindsay, thank you - this is helpful. About the color illustrations, for example, the picture on this page of TCOO would be in color in the ebook, too? I have an iPad. Do you have yours on a kindle or iPad?
One advantage I see is taking it with you. We never take our iPad with us because ours is wireless, not 3G. But with this I would have so many books available for car use.
Is the quality way better than, say, a gutenberg or google e-book?

I have an iPad.
In general, it is better than other "free" e-books in that it is formatted cleanly. No sign of the scanning, etc..., plus, you can browse easily with the TOC linking to the individual chapters.

YES! I got the YC last year and I LOVE them. We had previously downloaded quite a few of the titles from Gutenberg, but the formatting sometimes makes them very difficult to read. That's not the case with YC. The formatting is beautiful, the chapters are linked, and pictures are included.
My 10YO read 3-4 books from the YC books this past year, and my 6YO did all the readers that came with it. My 4YO and 3YO love for me to read some of the fairy tales at bedtime. Two thumbs up from me....
(Oh, and for what it's worth, I paid $100, not $50!!)

Hmm... I clicked to purchase and it is called an offer for Circe institute attendeees. I'll have to email and find out if it's okay to use this offer as I didn't attend. Sorry, I didn't know when I shared the link.

I think anyone can use the offer. At the CiRCE conference, they gave me an extra sheet to give to a friend.

I've been considering purchasing this collection since last year when I saw it for $99. I've purchased several books from Yesterday's Classics and we've really enjoyed them, so this looks like a very good deal.
With that being said, I think I recall that someone mentioned that several of the history titles are protestant - are they anti-Catholic? Are there some titles we should avoid?

Thanks all. I bit and bought them. Downloading my books right now. I'm excited. I would prefer to hold them in my hand as physical books, but I think this is definitely worth it for car school, previewing, and the ones that I may never get to buy.

I got them in EPUB and Kindle format in case we ever change e-Readers.
I think you'll be very pleased with your purchase. I love having the books at my disposal for my 10YO and history reading. He loved the "Stories of the Pilgrims" book last year.

I only have one hand to type right now, so I will just second all this.
We have really enjoyed having it.

Well, I was excited, and still am, but I am having a really tough time getting them transferred from my computer. I have the newest version of iTunes and it transferred about 10 books before it decided to freeze every time it tries to transfer purchases/update. This is spoiling a little bit of my excitement, but I am hoping to find some time this weekend to figure it out. She also sent me the kindle files, so I'm thinking maybe transferring those via the Kindle app may work better?

Hm. I don't remember having any problems transferring them to my iPad.
I do remember it taking awhile because there were so many to transfer, if that helps any.

I bought these books from this deal last year, but I paid $99. So this would be a fabulous deal you're getting!
We love all of the books and are using quite a few of them this year. Pretty much for many subjects. I think that you should go ahead and buy them.
