Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A few months ago I sat down and planned out our history for my boys until high school. We really just did whatever each year until now. But, now I am rethinking our plan and want some feedback. I have trouble sticking to plans and I want so badly to say this is how it going to be and it will be!    I am planning on using Catholic Textbooks as our spine for middle school. I am not big on textbooks, but I have heard good reviews. Here was the original plan for my oldest.
6th-Sea to Shining Sea (American History)
7th-A Light to the Nations 1
8th-A Light to the Nations 2

Youngest
3rd: American History (using HOD Bigger guide)
4th: US State/Geography Study (using Trail Guide to US Geography)
5th: Sea to Shining Sea
6th: All Ye Lands
7th: A Light to the Nations 1
8th-A Light to the Nations 2

Here is my problem. My oldest has not had hardly any geography and I think I want to do the state study and US geography with him too. I would do this for 7th grade and combine him with his little brother. Can we use Light of the Nations in high school? The recommended grades go into high school. They are expensive and I have to be able to use them with both boys, otherwise I won't buy them. I would change his 8th grade to All Ye Lands (because I already have it) and start the Nations books in high school. My youngest plans would stay the same.

If you have read this post to the end, thank you! If you understand what I said, . Any feedback?

I love those textbooks and own them all!

So if I'm reading you correctly, your oldest would be doing StSS while your youngest is doing HOD?

Then the next year combine them for a state study one semester and geography the second semester?

I wouldn't do All Ye Lands in 8th grade bc I don't feel it is challenging enough for that grade.

I would skip HOD and trail guide entirely for oldest and stick to the suggested sequence of
StSS (maybe combine with trail guide geography with the younger one?)

Thanks Martha!
Maybe I just need to stick to the original plan, but add in the state study/us geography for my oldest for this year. I was worried it would be too much work, but I bet I can come up with a plan if I sit down with the books.
