How do your kids handle, "recess" time? Our yard is pretty small, and G isn't one to appreciate being outdoors, much. We can walk around the block, and on the days when the younger two don't have preschool, I'm thinking of having us walk the 1/2 mile to AM Mass. There's no playground close, though, and no area that seems to encourage vigorous physical activity.

There have been times when the kids are really squirrely that I have had them run to the end of the street and back as a transition between subjects.
You could always get up a game of some sort with them so that they'd run around more for instance Fox and Geese tag game doesn't take a lot of space. It's easier in the winter when you can make snow paths but I'm sure you could come up with a way to make the paths (flour?).
Or encourage them to show off sommersaults and stuff.
Jumpropes? they might be young for that yet.
duck duck goose?
run through the sprinkler for water fun rather than a wading pool?
put on fun music and dance together?

We do some simple exercises throughout the day: jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, stretches, and whatnot. We usually do this in the mornings here and there, and then they spend the afternoon playing and running around in the backyard, but you could do a longer circuit training version of basic exercises to stand in for a longer physical session--jump up and down on this step for one minute, push-ups for one minute, squats for one minute, etc...and then do it again. The kids love when I do the exercises *with* them, so it's good motivation for me to get moving too.
I would also suggest jogging as a great activity for kids. I used to run with my dad in the afternoons when I was in elementary school, and I'll be starting the same thing with my two oldest (both age 5) this summer. They'll start with run-walks around the block. My goal is for them to be able to run a mile without stopping, then we'll see where to go from there. They have been begging to go "running with Mommy," so it should be fun for all of us.

I use Family Time Fitness. It's adaptable for all ages. Includes things like squats, jumping jacks, skipping, races, stretches, yoga poses, balance exercises. We do it in the mornings before starting the school day, most of the time. It's rigorous enough that if you are actually doing it to your best ability, you will experience some muscle fatigue(aka soreness but note it's strengthening). You can get a free 3 day trial to try it out, we have lots of fun, we do it with ages 2,3, 4, 8 and 13.
