Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So, for my ds next year will be 4rth grade - I am thinking of getting the core curriculum package for 4rth grade. Anyone use most of their stuff; plus their plans? I have been looking at their sample texts online and it seems it could be a fit for this child - solid 4rth grade subject matter and yet gentle enough for him (hard to explain - he is VERY smart yet not as independent as my other 2 kiddos were at this age).

What are your thoughts; especially those who used it and found it a good fit for your kids - why did you like it. . .

I have used CHC this year. I have really liked it. It is truly simple for moms to use. DD has really enjoyed it as well.

We are off schedule now, but such is life of a homeschooler..lol. But she has learned and retained most of what we've learned.

I have also been using the core curriculum this year, with the lesson plans, with a few small substitutions/supplements. I found for history, that the plan took too much time etc. to put it together for me/our life. So, I'm just supplementing between the Land of Our Lady series, and the Seton history curriculum. Religion, we're using the Baltimore Catechism, and Angel Food for Boys and Girls. Otherwise, we are using the core curriculum and some of the extras, and we LOVE it. This has been our best year yet. One reason is that we are finally able to use a Lesson Plan. I really think CHC would be a good fit, as we have the same issue of being very smart, yet not able to independently study quite yet. HTH!

We have used CHC and I really like it. My DS is in 5th grade and it has worked really well for us. The lesson plans are so easy to follow and the textbooks are top notch.

However, we are most likely going to switch to Seton next year as we are ready for a bit more rigor along with report cards, transcripts, etc. That's my only complaint about CHC; it's just the lesson plans and books. If they were an actual accredited program like Seton or MODG program I would stick with them.

I'm a fan of CHC. I use some of their products. I will be using it almost completely next school year with my oldest. I liked the 4th grade science! The state study was not my favorite. I will be supplementing that when my youngest is in 4th grade. I felt like it didn't hold my hand enough. This may not be a problem for some. I was looking at Memoria Press state study and Trail Guide of the US to go with it or to use instead of the CHC state study plans.
