I need some inspiration on pacing...
does anyone have any blog posts about how they do 6th or 7th grade CMishly? YES! that IS a word.

Coming back to your original question, Donna Marie.  I don't have any blog posts on 6th/7th grade, but I do have a 6th grader this year. He's my second 6th grader, and is very different from my first.
Our approach is CMishly.
What specifically do you want to brainstorm about pacing in this grade level? If you're looking for inspiration you probably just want some ideas right? So you can gather them up and brainstorm your situation with them?
** The pacing is different between my two 6th graders though the approach has been the same
** One preferred time to explore lessons and books much more in depth throughout the day and really liked rabbit trails as part of the lesson.
** The other (current 6th grader) prefers a short focused lesson, no matter what it is, and likes having a big chunk of specific Masterly Inactivity time on the lesson plan at the end of the day.
Help me out here - what else are you looking for specifically?

Weeellll....
I am looking for inspiration on pacing and how I can get the 6th and 7th grader immersed in learning many things without frustrating them or pushing them too hard. The 7th grader always needs pushing  so I am a little gun-shy but i know basically what I am about...I think. The 6th grader loves to learn and wants to be a teacher someday. She is EASY. But, they both learn together. How do I pace things for both of them to go forward pretty much together?
How much should I be covering in a day or a week...sometimes I think I am teaching them college level instead of grammar school...I don't want to get carried away but I don't want to give them just a cursory glance either. Connections....connections...connections. I am looking for some good anchors(books, ideas..I got many of these but how much should I call essential and how much is just extra?) and goals(how much, how often, how may hands on projects etc).
I know I have to keep them steadily moving forward at their pace. How many books should they be reading on any given subject anyway?? We happen to loooove historical fiction (especially at this age range) I don't want them reading forever about the Canadian exploration (for example) when we really have to move on down the Mississippi and onward with the growth of the nation... 
I know I am morphing into a person that uses the CM way so much more than before. I finally "get it" for some things but I am not quite there in making it automatic. I think these 2 will help that to happen. After all, the older ones were just there to break me in
What about memory work? What is realistic for this age?
Ok, ok, I'll stop. ...for NOW... I really want this year to be sensational! creating a CMsation...yeah, that is what I want to do! Clear, easy on me, and full of connections....I have 2 toddlers. need I say more about helping me get my act together better to make life smoooooth? 
I want my home to be...shall I say it? Challenging yet FUN!

It looks like this thread is a few months old, but I thought I'd take a stab at describing how my 6th grader is handling her day.
* I break our year into three major 12 week terms.
* I have a skeleton of what we will cover during those 12 weeks. For example we are going over ancients this school year. Ideally, my goal is to cover Egypt Term1, Ancient Greece Term2, and Beginning Roman (with some acinent China) Term3
* For each term or goal I've picked a spine book which ensures that if all of the "literature" books I've chosen don't get read; there will be an understanding of what we are studying.
* The number of pages for her spine get divided weekly assuming a 12 week term. This way we are sure that the spine will be completed. She chooses her reading pace per day/week after that.
* I have a list of optional books she can choose from for each term. She reads at her pace and usually is so interested in them that she can get through several, but there is no stress in getting through all of them.
* She usually doesn't move to the next one on the list until she has finished one. Occasionally she'll have two going, but unlikely because she has other subjects/books in her day/week.
* She keeps a journal of two written narrations per week. She can choose any subject but I've noticed most of her writing is about History.
* She has naturally learned to come to me after a reading session to update me on an oral narration.
* She keeps a Book of Centuries, with one day assigned to filling in, just in case she missed putting something in earlier in the week
* I always include a book or two that I know are challening (above her level). So far I haven't run into something she couldn't work through on her own.
I hope that helps on a few of Donna Marie's questions about books and pacing; at least with my sixth grader.
