Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

After homeschooling for ten years I went through a long, hard year of burnout. Then it took another year to 'climb' back out, plagued with doubts along the way. Considering I had been dedicated to homeschooling since my teens having doubts was very strange to say the least.

This was an unhappy place to be in. Talking to my dh this week though I realised something. I am a better wife, mother and teacher for it all. I was sharing with dh my plans for the new term; I now have far more clarity and vision, I now plan and plan well, and he praised me for this, telling me I was a fantastic teacher (aww ) and concluded that it was all since my burnout! He told me I was far stronger for my burnout.

So out of the ashes of that period there arose something better, stronger. Just wanted to share that epiphany moment with anyone going through burnout at present.

I feel like I am toying with it. I know I will feel better when I get my diet straightened out. I wish I had a game plan for a burnout recovery diet. If anyone gets any ideas, let me know!

How encouraging this is Erin! It seems like so often our struggles in life really do bring about good change. By God's grace we are stronger and better able to do His will.

I recently went through a struggle when my dh thought we should put our kids in school. For 9 years he supported our homeschool journey, saying it was the right thing, encouraging me as I taught the kids ...
Then this year he threw me for a loop and said he really thought we should put the kids in school. Well, after much praying and dicussing the issue, he changed his mind and we are back to just homeschooling. But, what a change in my own heart! I think the thought that his whole thing would be taken from me gave me new and better appreciation for it. I see each of the kids and their time with me as very precious now. I think I was starting to let the negatives weigh on me and I was taking it all for granted.

I guess when we are going through these things we have to keep reminding ourselves that even when we don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's there!
