Just curious. When I was a kid, in addition to walking to school uphill both ways in the snow , we also had school right up through the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Here the public schools are off. I had planned to take the week off since we started so early this year and don't need those extra days.
But now I'm thinking I'd like to use that time to get in a few fun art projects and some serious read-aloud time.
What are your plans?

I'm planning on it, but there'll probably be some doctors visits in there messing things up (not unusual ). My dh is also taking a much deserved week off from work, so that might change things. Although I think with him home they'll actually do MORE work (he's a better slave driver than I am )

WE'RE OFF!!!!
Actually, we're off this week, too!!!
We're halfway through our year and last week was devoted to end of term examinations which the kids did fairly well with...soooooo...this week I'm building Term 3 plans and we're all enjoying a nice long 2 week break which coincides with Thanksgiving!
We always take the week of Thanksgiving off. We spend a few days decorating our home with bouquets of pretty autumnal leaves, setting out fresh picture book baskets, and baking and making all the traditional things that Thanksgiving wouldn't be Thanksgiving without...like homemade Chex party mix!

We decided to follow the public school schedule since ds8 has to attend, so we will have school two days next week. I like Jen's plans much better.

Monday and Tuesday we'll do a bit, mostly things like finishing the last few pages of chapters we are in the midst of. That way, when we're back the following Monday we can have a clean start. When I was in school, we always had a full day on Wednesday. At our home/school we have too much pie baking and cleaning to have time for SCHOOL on the day before a major holiday.
Peace,
Nancy

I work normally, so we usually only have the mornings together. Next week though I don't work at all, so we are planning to do reading and math and then we are planning to do some extra projects and crafts we don't usually have time for. :)

I had planned on taking the whole week off to clean and pack, but now I have sick kiddos (and thus aren't doing much this week) so we may do school on Monday and Tuesday.

The local schools are off, so we are too. Very ready for the break -- I want to do some planning for Advent and beyond!

We work straight through. Maybe not on Thursday though.
I'll just move their Thurs work to M, T and W.
What a mean mom I am. Honestly, if they have too much free time they just fight.

That's one big reason (of a myriad of reasons) why we are working next week!

We normally do three days of school and have 2 off. This year we are going to my mom's to be there with her for Thanksgiving and her birthday - the first since my dad died. So this year we will have it mostly off though they will take reading and such with them.

We'll school Mon and Tues and take the rest of the week off. Dh is taking off Friday so we can do a major purge the rest of the weekend.

We are doing abridged school, just the basics, on mon-weds, since are taking the next week and a half off to move. I don't want to get so far behind that we can't take off plenty of time at Christmas.

School's in session at our house through Wednesday! That will garner no smiles from my children...Alas!

We are doing school Mon- Wed. too because craziness begins the week after as we start Nutcracker performances. The only thing that saved my kids from school on Friday is that its my birthday and we don't school on birthdays.

I had planned on some school, but I'll be watching my nephews until Wednesday. And, I need to get some Nutcracker sewing done. I'm behind schedule on those.

We're planning on the basics and adding some Thanksgiving activities like crafts and baking (Mon-Wed only). I also printed some coloring pages and have picked a Thanksgiving picture book a day to read.

Really-
Isn't it great to be homeschooling and have the option of designing your own schedule?
I remember as a kid having to bake pies the Wed night before Thanksgiving.
It was dark out, and there we were in the kitchen. Much nicer to have that daylight option

We were supposed to be off all week, but the kids are sick this week, so we will probably do some catching up next week.
