Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have read that it is important for homeschooling students to have practice with some traditional methods of school like taking tests.

For those of you who also think it is important to practice and develop the skill of test taking, how do you go about it?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Some kids will do fine.. others.. less so.

Transfering information from one place to the next is a big one. For instance my oldest son would do the math work on scratch paper and come up with the correct answer.. and then mark the wrong bubble on the test.. that's not about knowledge but about test taking.

We occasionally do test prep work via purchased workbooks. We did a lot of this to get my son ready for the SAT. In the elementary grades, we signed up for a standardized test every couple of years, on average, just for practice filling in those bubbles.

We have to do mandatory testing every other year in New York State. We like the Pass Test. We don't do any preparation for it and the children do just fine.

We don't do any test taking practice until close to the high school years...7th/8th grade. I shared more here.

Love,

Angie-
Thanks for linking the other discussion. That was exactly what I was wondering about- the class tests.

I appreciate all of the input.
