Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen this or delved much into it?

It seems really extensive and legit and according to reviews, very good!

Only being picky in case someone is trying to search or google - it's KHAN with the h second.    Here's the direct website (it might be all the same things as the YouTube Channel, I don't know)

Wanted to bump this up as we've just discovered Khan Academy; this guy is great! You can learn SOO much stuff here! And for children who are very computer inclined, he's a great resource! I'm having my kids watch his stuff on the times tables just as a reinforcer. Bill Gates is a huge fan of Sal Khan too.

Check out his Ted Talk. (Have you discovered Ted Talks yet? Another neat site...)

It's funny...have been hearing about this off and on for over a year and had checked it out but not seriously used it until recently. It is great. I'm teaching a biology lab class at our co-op and have been having the students watch these before classes so we can focus on the labs.

Ellie, thanks for the Ted Talks link on Sal Khan. That was really interesting. He is a bright guy and really has something here.

We use the Khan Academy for chemistry alot!! My dd is a VERY visual, and dyslexic, learner and the Khan videos are just the ticket for her. Anywhere I can have her watch those instead of read the chem. text we do it!!

bumping... Finally looked at Khan and loving the possibilities!

So we've been using it this morning on my account through Facebook. If you use it for your children ( my son is 7), how do you manage the acct? Do you give your child a Facebook or google acct if they don't have one or use google apps for education as suggested by Kahn? Right now *I* am doing really well in the math basics track from addition to place value to multiplication but I'd like to have that reflected separately as my son so that my younger children can eventually have their own track, points, etc. Thanks for any help!

I just go to the Khan page and click on the lesson I want- unless it has changed I don't need a google account or FB account...

Kristie, I mean if you want to keep track of your progress in videos and exercises. My son was following the basic math track with exercises. I can see them all without a log in but I want to keep track.

we signed DS up using DH's Google account and I track his progress (as his coach) using my FaceBook account. there may be an easier way but this works for us. what an awesome site! I think DH and I may have learned more than the kiddos ...

We have 3 accounts, 1 for me and 1 for each older boy. I just created 3 yahoo accounts and wrote down the user names and passwords in a "safe" place

Couldn't have been easier and we totally geeked out on Khan for about a week. The boys learned graphing coordinate planes in about 20 minutes!! It's really a great resouce, though I don't think you could use it as a math curriculum unless you were uber organized about it! I see us using it more and more as we enter the junior high years.

I've used it for a few different purposes - from high school review to my 7 year old just checking it out - and a few things in between.

I think it is great for computation and skill-building/practice, and for gaining scientific explanations; but I would not be prone to use it for a stand-alone course. Definitely I would use it as a supplement or combined with something else though.
