I saw a thread about this but couldn't find it.

the author refers to the man- Darby as Scotch-Irish when they first meet him

he isn't Catholic, the Scotch Irish were Irishman were decedents of Scots that had been resettled by the British in northern Ireland. They would be todays orange men -Protestant Irish in north Ireland. The character is a non-practicing protestant.

My dh and i have a long standing joke about who is more Irish him or me because some of his grandparents were Scotch-Irish but he says my German grandma cancels out all.

so anyways you don't have to worry about it being anti-catholic Hope that helps


I liked the first one better but that was just because I thought it was better written.

Yeah, but how many people when they read it will see it that way. Either way, it wasn't a very good book compared to the last one.
