Hello Ladies,
I discovered over on Jessica's Shower of Roses that there is a free amazon trial of Amazon Prime with a purchase of a textbook. This trial is for 3 months which would be for when I order all of my books (from now until April)
So which "textbook" should I choose. I was thinking maybe a spine for religion or history??? My oldest is going into 5th grade next year.
Any ideas???? What would you buy?

If I could find it and they counted it as a textbook.. I would buy Explode the Code. I have a child or two I want to try it with.. it's top of my list for buying.. and I would love to get the first couple and see them and try them out so that I would know if I wanted to get more.

We use Explode the Code for one of my daughters and SHE LOVES IT!!! She is in the middle of book 3 and it has helped soooo much. One aspect that is really helpful for her is that she learned all the short vowel sounds and then blends then she started on the long vowel sounds. It made more sense for her than, short and then long and then blends:)
off to check if that counts:)

yeah.. I started just browsing.. everything I want isn't a textbook 
Oh and since it was brought up in Philosophy of Education.. I even looked for Gatto's Weapons of Mass Instruction. And it's not a text book but another one of his is.. "Dumbing Us Down" and it's only $10 and apparently the prime will kick in for the order you get the textbook.. so you get the free shipping right off.
That's going to make it much more possible for me.. because I could find a little $10 (or less!!) book and just get it whatever it is.

oh look.. some of the ETC books are listed as textbook.. this one is temporarily out of stock but it still works..

bummer ... Amazon Prime doesn't apply to Hawaii.
but if it did, I think I'd get this history of the Church

Hmmm. I just finished a free 3 month trial and did not have to order a textbook to get it. It worked out great for Christmas!
If you do the trial just be sure to remember to cancel before the month is up or you will be auto-charged 79 bucks.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Theresa, it's set up now so that you can go into your settings and turn off the auto renewal.. so you don't have to actually cancel or anything. it just won't renew and you can do it right away not wait for you to forget.

I emailed Amazon customer service and they wanted to know the URL of the page that had the 3-month trial, so I gave that to them. They responded and said that it will take them a week to figure it out and contact me. In the meantime, I have a one-month trial.
