Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just finished a book that was a great example of the unschooling lifestyle. It's Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. As I read of Uncle Alec's year-long experiment with Rose, I realized that it was a case study for both unschooling and many of Charlotte Mason's philosophies. Very interesting.

(Lissa, I first learned of this book through a link from your blog to Semicolon's list of 100 books. Thanks!)

This is one of 14yod's favorite books! I'll ask her what she thought of the experiment.....

My 15yo loved this book, too; and we had several discussions about Uncle Alec's "experiment"

Little Men is another Alcott book that engulfs the whole "unschooling" & CM mindset.
