Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can we talk Legos?

Like so many other boys, my son loves Legos. He's great at following directions, but he also loves free style. I feel like we're just scratching the surface and want to know more that he can do.

Our homeschool group is doing a Lego club, which we're going to join. And today I had seen a few books on Amazon. Anyone have any recommendations?

Anyone use the suggestions in the Lego education? Recommendations?

I'm all ears (or eyes as the case may be).

I'd be interested to hear more about this. There is a new member in our group who is interested in doing this as well. She was part of one in a secular co-op. I'm interested to hear how it works in different groups to see the variations we coudl do.

I know our group uses the "curriculum" or kits from Lego, found here. The older group that has been doing it longer suggested The Way Things Work by David Macaulay to help understand simple machines. I don't think she thought the newer The New Way Things Work as good. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison yet.

Jenn, we just ordered the Math Machines set from Homeschool Buyers Co-op -- scroll down a bit. I think it will be great for JP (and Maggie too a bit) and the price seemed really good. I know my new co-op did a "lego club" last year ... but all are on vacation right now; I'll try and get some info from them next week or so ...
