Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Someone posted this on Cay's Lit Alive list, but I thought y'all might get a kick out of it:

"Now, what I want is, Facts. Teach these boys and girls nothing but Facts. Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else, and root out everything else. You can only form the reasoning animals upon Facts; nothing else will ever be of any service to them. This is the principle on which I bring up these children. Stick to Facts, sir!"

It's from Charles Dickens' "Hard Times" but cuold just as well be from some of the Board of Education hearings....in any state (or continent, eh Leonie?)

A good quote!

We were talking tonight about Karl Marx and a quote from The Communist Manifesto re eliminating religion and culture.

Thomas, 12, wanted to know what would be left if there was no religion or culture.

Maybe just "the Facts"?
