My 11.5yo dd is still interested in dolls and her twin couln't care a bit about them...oooh...I am soo sad to see this time pass by...sooo ...I wanted to get my dd a really special doll for Christmas...I really...really wanted American Girl to behave itself...lol...but ....things being what they are, could you please recommend some kind of replacement for them. She loved the fact that AG was kinda historical. I know she want's something pretty and just for her....Katherine has been such a trooper when it comes to watching her younger siblings and I want to spoil her a bit...can you help me??

Hi Donna,
I just received a "Vision Forum" catalog in the mail. I don't know much about them....but they have some great dolls. You can find them here.
Blessings !

I remember seeing a thread once that had a lot of suggestions. I searched all forums using "American Girl Doll" and here are some that came up
What to buy in place of AG?
Great replacement for AG dolls
Christmas ideas please
You may have to wade through the posts a little, but there are a lot of suggestions. I know the Vision dolls were mentioned by someone who had bought one.
Good luck!

These Magic Attic Dolls at Dollmarket.com are a tremendous bargain at $29.95:
Alison Doll and Book
Keisha Doll and Book
Rosa Doll and Book
Megan Doll and Book
Heather Doll and Book
This Gotz Elizabeth doll from Julie's Stuff is lovely too. (By the way, in my research, I was unable to find a Gotz Elizabeth doll for a better price than the one offered at Julie's Stuff.)

Hi!
You should try one of the My Twin dolls! I bought two of the "My Twin Friends" dolls (not one of the personalized ones, but from the "Friends" collection), and they are truly *beautiful* dolls! In fact, much nicer than the one AG doll that we have. They were $79.00 each. Here is the link: www.mytwin.com . Click on the "My Twin Friends" link at the left margin to view all available dolls.
God bless!

Thank you, Alice!!
I was able to purchase the Megan doll for my red-headed 4 y/o. I'm glad to have gotten her at such a great price, because $70-$100+ just seemed too much for a doll for a 4 y/o, and the less expensive ones are usually not quite as pretty.
I hope she likes it!

A BIG THANK YOU to you all for helping me out with this!! I think I am going to go with the Liberty Doll from vision because it looks so much like her...
I do have 2 AG patterns packets for some wonderful clothing...like a cape and a muff...etc...I think I will go to the fabric store and get what I need to make them and give it all to her with a sewing basket of her own...she has been on me to teach her to sew using my machine....so...It is being repaired now and I couldn't pass up this chance...I also want to help her make a doll quilt...aaah...so many options to make this special!
We don't do a lot of gifts for Christmas...we just try to make them meaningful and pretty much keep with one nice thing per person...with 7 dc it can get out of hand very fast if we don't do that! KWIM?? and of course theme gifts can be loads of fun to plan!!
God bless all of you!!
