I would love to hear what others are planning for their 1st graders!
So far, I am loosely using CHC's lesson plans, but will do much tweaking! No MCP Math,no Speller.
Probably:
Faith and Life 1
Explode The Code phonics
Booklist from FIAR 3and 4
Still not sure on math-No MUS or Singapore though.
Hard to know with my little guy who is almost 7, but not into formal learning.
Please share!

Preliminary plan for First Grade(subject to change at a moments notice or a Mother's whim):
~Image of God 1 & Liturgical Year Celebrations
~Explode the Code online (fun - got it thru the Homeschool Buyer co-op)
~Queen Homeschool First Language Lessons
~CHC My First Speller because she loves workbooks, not because I want her to do it
~Math Gnomes for Math
~Myths, Maps, & Marvels with older brother for History / Lit, etc
~Tagging along with older brother with Noeo Chemistry (but probably tweaked to be Harry Potter Potions Class.)
~Themes to Remember for Music
~Artistic Pursuits
That's the plan. Things like Music take like 5 minutes a few times a week. Art is only once a week. So it looks like a lot, but we don't do everything everyday....however, dd6 is the one who LOVES school, always wants to do school. If only ds9 had her enthusiasm!!!

Well we are about to finish our second term of First Grade.
Maths: Singapore Maths 2
Copywork: Poetry selections
Reading: Dd is now reading so she reads a chapter a day from a book of her choice. (Please do NOT feel intimidated by this, she is my first child ever to read so well so young)
Literature:Various selections of picture books and chapter, really whatever is on our shelf. (Dd is our fifth child so a collection has been built up for her)
Spelling: Fred Schonell (an out of print speller)
Dictation:Sentences from book of her choice.
Phonics: Ronald Ridout (an out of print Australian text)
Faith: She is preparing for her First Reconciliation and FHC, so ST Joseph FHC Catechism, various FHC saint stories and a focus on prayer life.
Science: Currently listening to Magic School Bus Chapter books with older brother.
History: We study history as a family, currently we are looking at the first 300 years after Christ. Dd is joining in at her level, mainly using RC History as a spine.
Please remember though Bella that Dd, is a girl and far more interested in learning formally than her brothers. In fact her 9yr old brother is at the same reading stage as her, he did not hurry into formal learning. Plus if dd doesn't want to do her lessons she often goes and plays.

CHC (only changing the math to Math-U-See)
We use FIAR in between...like now in the Summer months.

I'm still trying to nail down some definite plans for my dd so I'm enjoying reading all of yours!
So far I have this:
~Math: Continue Math-U-See. She'll be in Alpha in the Fall
~Science: Continue nature study with nature walks, narrations and drawings/paintings of discoveries for nature notebook, and Start Up Science 1 and 2 with dd9.
~Spelling: CHC
~Printing: CHC or Seton or my own worksheets made with Start Write Program (not sure yet) I would like to create my own printing worksheets so I can base it on the books we are reading, but I'm not sure if I would keep up with it, especially when things go wrong with the computer.
~History: Story of the World I along with dd9 and enhanced with real stories.
~Religion: Haven't decided yet.
~Phonics: Haven't decided yet.
~Also using Catholic Mosaic, A Picture Perfect Childhood and Real Learning books with all my children.
I'll keep checking back to see all of your plans.

We'll be doing pretty much the same as last years, with a few additions. I have a K and 1st grader this year.
- FIAR Vol. 1-3 and units from HSS
- RS Math - we're halfway through level B
- Spell to Write and Read(SWR): just continuing on
- Continue through Seton Religion for 1st grade
- along with Bible Stories and Saint stories
- Tons of read alouds, chapter and picture books
Additions for the year are:
- Language Lessons from Queens
- Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding by Bernard Nebel
THe only difference between my K and 1st grader is my K'er will start Level b in math by the fall and she is lower in the spelling list in SWR. Other than that, we do everything else together.
**CHC is Catholic Heritage Curricula

Religion: Faith & Life 1, Catholic Mosaic, Magnifikid, A Life of Our Lord for Children
Science: Probably CHC topic of the week with picture books
Literature: I'm making up a booklist
CHC Spelling and Handwriting
Nature, picture and composer study as a family

Not speaking for Laura, but I think she's talking about
A Term at Hogwarts
A fun unit that Theresa at Lapazfarm and her son Superboy devised together, that she posted up on her blog to share with everyone

Miraculously I was able to plan the next school year during an Adoration Hr. I brought my DYOCC book and a notebook and listed each child's name at the top of a page.
Using DYOCC as my guide, I came up with a "spine" plan for the main subjects.
I also went through the bins of material I had stored away after the older children used them. This way I knew what I had so I could cut back on the spending.
I also committed myself to not getting too caught up in my own "plans" that I forgot about what the children want. Teaching Textbooks for Math is written in stone. No debate there. The rest of it is open to discussion. I also spoke with each child to see what they wanted in their education.
Throughout the rest of the week, I added a few rabbit trail ideas and extras (making sure neither the spine nor the extra ideas were so overwhelming that my plans would be for naught).
I have since lost my planning notebook.
Please, if you could all offer a prayer to St. Anthony, I'll be happy to share my plans.
I figure I have until August 1st to track this notebook down.
Or perhaps God wants new plans.

I love love love this plan, saigemom.
I'll have a 1st grader this coming year, too. Here's what we've got brewing:
-Oak Meadow Grade 1 (this includes all the core subjects, includes fairy tales & waldorf-style art, nature stories as the base for science, and math gnomes for mathematics- also she'll start knitting and playing the recorder)
Oak Meadow doesn't rely too much on picture books, though, so we'll infuse our days with selections from the Real Learning, FIAR, and Picture Perfect booklists. We'll throw in an occasional FIAR or HSS unit/lapbook too, as the mood strikes. I plan to take off all of December from Oak Meadow to do Elizabeth's Tomie dePaola Advent/Christmas unit- we LOVED it last year.
-nature outings once/week, daily time outside in the backyard
-celebrating the church year through feasts/festivals (I'm using All Year Round, Marian Devotions in the Domestic Church, and Catholic Mosaic for ideas here)
-we'll also do an informal circle time in the afternoons with the littles, based on Rebecca's ideas
here.

Yes, that is my inspiration. We followed along as Theresa shared her Unit Study, and my kids had the best time ever, and talk about it constantly. With a little google-searching, I found that there is this site:
Hogwarts Correspondance School
Which is really just a bunch of themed yahoo groups by parents - many homeschool parents, some that just do it over the summer - with an absolute TON of ideas about using the Harry Potter series in your homeschool, etc. Lots of recipes, crafts, etc, etc.
It is a lot of work but it is fun, and they have a blast, so I figured I could do it for one class...so Chemistry = Potions Class.
