Well, I broke down and bought Leap Frog Fridge Phonics yesterday for my 3 yr old. I had resisted for so long, thinking it would just annoy me and that Allyson would get the same thing out of plain letter magnets and some adult interaction.
She loves this toy! After playing with it for about six hours straight she now knows all her consonant sounds. This morning she's using to to self-check herself. She'll take a letter (for example, B) and say "this is B and B says /b/. Now let's see if I'm right." She'll put the B on the magnet thing and she's so excited when she's right. My baby's growing up!

My toddler got that for Christmas. Both he and the 4 year old love it! If I could just keep the magnets away from the computers...

How strong are the magnets? What kind of damage can they do? (As I look upon the whole setup sitting on the desk next to the computer...)

We also enjoy the videos and theyhave recently come out with new dvds we have not seen. Has anyone used the Leapster? I was told it was similar to a Gameboy but educational.

Tim could probably tell you more. I just remember, with our first computer, my dh said that magnets on the computer could damage the hard drive.
