I just have to share what happened to us yesterday. You can read the whole scoop here but the short version is this:
We went to a political rally yesterday at a college campus for Ron Paul not to support one candidate over another, but to see the political process in action. A local homeschool mom had planned a presentation for the kids before hand to explain a little about the process of electing a President and then we went in for the rally. All of the kids were in the back where they couldn't see anything. Then, an announcement was made to let the homeschooled children come up front and THE WHOLE CROWD STARTING CHEERING FOR THEM!!!!! They were saying things like, "Whoo hoo for homeschooling! You guys keep it up! All right homeschoolers!" It was awesome. The kids were beaming!!!!
I know that Texas is a homeschooling friendly state but this was still amazing!

Since Ron Paul is a very pro-homeschooling candidate that is not completely surprising, but I bet it still felt very validating and awe-inspiring. That's awesome!!!

Oh I am sure that is why we were treated so favorably, I was just surprised at the number of college students who were responding and that there was even such a response at all. There weren't any other cheers going on even though other "announcements" were being made. It was great for the kids to be recognized in that way!

Wow! I wished I could have been there! Getting applauded for homeschooling AND a Ron Paul rally AND hanging out with Waltzing Matlilda! What a great day that would have been.
Blessings To You,
Elizabeth

Okay, I feel silly. I am actually choking up about this! I think it is just because we have NEVER been applauded or even given very positive feedback for what we are doing (I mean me AND the kids!). We have a great homeschooling community here, but no one on the "outside" has ever been very positive. That must have been a great pick-me-up in the middle of the February blahs. I happen to really like Ron Paul, so that makes it all the better!
Blessings,
Betsie
