Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Somewhere I read how to make a book using large sheets of construction paper. I think it was Elizabeth Foss' site, but I can't find it right now. Does anybody have directions? I'm having my 5 year old daughter narrate the Christmas Stories we read and then draw a picture for me and I want to make a book of Christmas Stories.

Thanks,

Elizabeth

Okay, so my daughter just finished her picture of The Christmas Cobwebs; it looks like all the hundreds of pictures she has been mass-producing of three-story houses.
She told me she needed help drawing a Christmas tree and when I gently told her it needed to be her own work, she ended up drawing what she knows how to draw.

How do you gently encourage them to try to draw a picture about the story you're reading?

Blessings,

Elizabeth

I don't know about the lapbook, but for drawing...

I sometimes I draw a simple picture along with the boys if I think it's hard for them to do. They sometimes do exactly what I do and sometimes they do something with a new twist. But I never draw on their paper.

I don't know if it's a good method or not. But it's what I do.

OK I sent this to someone the other day, hope it helps.

You can see HOW here

More lapbook booklet templates

This has some more St. Nicholas stuff... PLUS it has some lapbook photos. You can also look in the links in the sidebar for other work this lady does :) Click on the photo for a close up.

This page has some lapbooks to look at (click on the photos)

Examples and links:

As for encouraging with the pictures... sometimes it helps to
A) provide something for them to copy
B) Make your suggestions differently... ask them to draw their favourite part of the book.
c) SHOW them how to draw the item
D) When all else fails, you can draw a colouring page and let them decorate it
