Usually after my dd has done Faith and Life and math, she'll ask, "Can we have a break now?" Sometimes I feel like if they've been working for about an hour, I usually give them 10-15 minutes to go play. However, it gets harder to get them back. How do you all handle your day in this regard? I'm actually planning on doing Theresa's plan of one topic a day (math Mondays,etc.) and see how that works for us. Maybe this will lessen. I think I've gotten stuck in that "check it off" mindset and that's why these requests for breaks are bugging me. Any thoughts?

Hey Courtney. This is one are that bugs me too. I've settled on breaks after each subject for k-2, and 3-4 (where we're at now) is after 2 subjects. It helps them to know when the breaks are coming, and it keeps the interruptions to a minimum, because they know that after a particular subject or 2, they have a break. I find it is harder to get them "back" after a longer break, so I try to make them more frequent.
