Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Where did you get them? I would love a lovely main lesson book for myself.

I was also wondering what to use for main lesson books. I purchased some of Michele's Nature Journals
and they are lovely. I started my kindergartner with one for math and one for religion. But as I haven't really ordered any of my Waldorf curriculum yet, I'm not sure if these will work or are the right thing to use. I plan on ordering more anyway, because they really are very very nice.

So, for those of you using main lesson books, do you use one for math, one for history, etc.? I'm using the Serendipity Fairy plans. Do you use one for all things alphabet fairy related?

Courtney--We have one alphabet main lesson book, one seasons book, a book of centuries for history and lives of the saints, and a binder to save all other miscellaneous narration, writing, and art work.

I looked into getting actual main lesson books, but I worried about what they would do if they made mistakes--one of my twins is a perfectionist has been known to crumble up and throw away the most beautiful pictures because he made a tiny mistake.

So, I am using loose drawing paper and keeping them in a folder. When the main lesson is completed, we'll comb bind the finished book. This way, if they make mistakes, they can start over. I may eventually purchase some main lesson books though, once we get the hang of things, but for now, our homemade books are working out nicely.

Thanks, Collen and Emily. Emily, I can so relate to you! My ds is a perfectionist and I'm afraid of the same thing happening. We've been doing things on loose-leaf paper and then putting them in page protectors and binders. Maybe I should keep this up for awhile.

We are using sketch books that I found at WalMart. They are quite thick, so I think they will last us for a few years. We use one for each subject.

We are just using one Main Lesson book at a time. Fill it up (or, don't, LOL!), and then move on. I plan to do a math "main lesson" in a few weeks where we'll do just math for 2-3 weeks in a row and fill a book. But on other weeks we just do math practice (right now mostly games, plan to get a simple drill book too), and don't keep track of it.

I plan to "save up" the Serendipity lessons for this purpose. But as my son is 8 and fairly quick at math, I probably need to find another source for these Main lessons as well! (?????)

PS, I got my Main Lesson books from Paper, Scissors, Stone. They were very cheap, but the paper seems a bit thin to me.
