One of the few things I remember from Jr. High School is a song I learned with the names of the 50 states. I actually learned it from my friend who learned it in Chorus (I was in Band because I couldn't - still can't - sing a lick.) Anyway...I broke into this song on a long van ride and the children thought it was cool. They all (besides the baby!) learned it and they want to learn more lists. Besides adding the greek alphabet which I learned as an undergrad pledge - don't ask - , I'm at a loss. What are your favorite lists to memorize? What tricks do you use to memorize them?
Love,

Lyrical Life Science cds (available thru Tobin's Lab and others) has LOADS of catchy list-memorization-inducing songs set to tunes everyone knows. From bones to taxonomy, they've got it. They're fun tunes and humorously rendered AND the sets include workbooks with quizzes and explanations of each song.
Another fun cd that we've listened to, oh, maybe a million times, is the World Geography cd---I'll have to check the publisher's name, but they're silly and informative all at once. Thanks to these tapes, I'm *still* basking in the glow of the time I was able to rattle off all the countries of the Russian Federation to a dubious Russian expat who thought all Americans were geographically-challenged!

Angie,
Was the song "Fifty Nifty United States"? I learned that way back in 6th grade and sang it to my oldest, but I forgot about it until you mentioned it. I never knew until I found it online that the song was written by Ray Charles. Think I'll teach it to my younger kids. Thanks for the reminder!

Well, this one goes WAY too fast for me to memorize (and it's out of date) but we like watching the Animaniacs "Nations of the World" song - you can see it here.
