Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have recommendations for good books for kids about these sports? We found some at the library but my 8-yo is looking for one that explains the rules of these sports in "kid language". We were excited about "Book of Rules" but they go into so much detail that even a read-aloud makes my eyes glaze over. And I don't know enough about most sports to explain even the simplest rules. DH probably would but he's out of town a lot these days....

Thanks for your suggestions!

I remember my teaching years Scholastic putting out some "how to" play books. I don't remember any titles off the top of my head.

Doesn't this help tremendously???

DK publish a series of books on sports and hobbies which includes The Young Tennis Player. I'm pretty sure that would include a simple explanation of the rules.

No help for badminton, though!

How about How To Play Tennis by Serena and Venus Williams? My 12 yo devoured that book (we borrowed it from a library) and instantly went out onto the street to practice.
