Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello,
I am new to the forums and I am very interested in using the CM style of teaching and learning with my children but I just don't know where to begin. I am trusting that some of you "seasoned" CM moms will point me in the right direction. Btw, I have 4 children ( a little saint in heaven, too) and have homeschooled from the beginning using Seton, CHC and currently OLVS. My children are 9,8,7 and 3 1/2.
Thanks for any help and advice you can give me.
God Bless,
Meredith

Meredith -- run, don't walk, and get a copy of Elizabeth's book, Real Learning. After digesting that, read CM's 6-volume set or at least A Philosophy of Education (#6) and then you'll be off and running.

Or, just plop down with a BIG cup of coffee or tea and read through the old posts -- you'll get TONS of info there....

Welcome, and don't hesitate to post a question or comment on anything you're curious about. Even if you post it in the wrong place, we'll get you the answer!

Hi Meredith!
Mary G. already pointed you in the right direction--that's probably why no one else responded to your question--but I just wanted to say hello and welcome!

Another excellent book I would recommmend is Karen Andreola's A Charlotte Mason Companion.

(Many people have found that Charlotte's books are not the easiest reads, and often busy moms do not have the time to digest them all.)

The forums are great, of course, and you will want to check out a lot of the blogs, too. They are wonderful sources of information and inspiration.

God bless you on this new adventure!

Welcome! I am new here too, and I just wanted to second Mary G's suggestions, I just received my copy of Elizabeth's book a week or so ago and am LOVING it! My only regret is that I didn't know about it sooner, like in the beginning of our journey! Blessings on your family's learning journey!

Welcome Meredith,
First, are you looking to add to what you are doing or change your whole approach? That makes a difference.

Thanks for the welcome :)
I did buy Elizabeth's book after seeing it mentioned here and I love it, too. AND I wish too that I knew about it before and the whole CM method of teaching. I don't know where I've been that I never heard of it before but I am thankful that now I do know!

We'll have to compare notes as we begin the new learning journey :)

Thanks for the warm welcome Mary G. I didn't have to run or walk to get Elizabeth's book as the mailman was kind enough to put it in my mailbox 2 weeks ago LOL

I have my big cup of coffee in hand already and plan on reading through some old posts while I still have a little time before the kids let me know I've been on here too long!

God Bless,
Meredith

Meredith -- you are all set then! Don't hesitate to come to these fine folks whenever you have a question or a comment -- someone always has something that triggers something that works for me!

Enjoy the journey!
