and I've just been living under a rock for the past 6 years of homeschooling ! But just in case you've been under a similar rock , I found out about a great book called The Timetables of History by Bernard Grun and it's great. It lists everything that is happening for a given time period. This will be a tremendous help in planning Unit Studies!

 It includes the headings of:
 History/Politics
 Literature/Theater
 Religion/Philosophy/Learning
 Visual Arts
 Music
 Science/Technology/Growth
 Daily Life

It was only $20 at Barnes and Noble with my teacher discount.

 Hope this helps someone!

Lisa it is great and the best organized book timeline I've seen - but every once in a while has a bias in phrasing (not often enough to make me dislike the book and certainly it could easily be fixed with some white out and black marker to reword something if it really bothered you) but there is also plenty of white space to pencil in special Catholic events/people(and there are some things already included) saints, etc.

We use this one a lot even though I am not a unit study person. We use it as a reference to get dates for something we are reading about or to look up other things going on at the same time as something we are studying - and when something we are reading seems a bit shakey on sequence of events. We used it a lot when reading saints lives to place saints in cultural and historical context.

I was under the rocks about Elizabeth's homeschooling book and this site - but did find this book many years ago. Isn't it great how this site helps share this kind of information.

It's one of the first books my husband bought after we got married and were building up our home library.   I think my 18yo has been hoarding it in his room since I haven't seen it for a while.

Great reference book! I bought ours years ago even before we started homeschooling, to fulfill a book club requirement. Every now and then we'll take it out to look up stuff and round out our studies as we go through the centuries. My only complaint: TOO many ideas for rabbit trails!!

Well, I've been under said rock. I just one-clicked and took care of that though! Thanks for the tip.

I think living under the rock is a crowded space!

 Thanks for the info!
