Has anyone used any of these? I am thinking of using them to start off lapbooking - as I do not have a clue about where to begin. I checked out their freebie snow unit study and it looks good. They also have a WW2 lapbook pack which I may be able to incorporate into my unit study.

I'm currently using their Human Body study and we really like it! It's a good place for me to start.

The HOAC packs are a great place to start because the graphics are set up and they teach you the folds. The down side is the graphics aren't so hot and, to me, the booklets are on the smallish side. The unit research directions are often quite complete so you get a lapbook plan and a unit study in one.

Dd9 really likes lapbooks, she has just finished the HOAC Native American lapbook and wants to study Vikings now. HOAC have a lapbook on Vikings at Currclick they are rather pricey though. Does anyone know of any coupons that I can use to reduce the cost?

I like them well enough that I am a company rep at the local homeschool conventions. They have a great sale going on right now to celebrate their 400th unit.
We use them for 75% of our schooling.
They posted a new freebie today in honor of the snowstorm coming through, a literature study for the picture book "The Big Snow"

I've never purchased one of these because the thought of lapbooking makes me panic. I don't think I have the time and creativity to do it. However, I have a very "hands On" son who has been crying and complaining mostly every day about his school work being boring. He's in 1st grade and I think some of it is the February blahs, but I've been trying to think of a way to make things more interesting for him. I'm trying to decide if I need to just accept that this kid is a different type of learner than my other kids and do more lapbooking type things with him. How can I keep it simple, so we actually do it though?

We use them occasionally with success. I like A Journey Through Time lapbooks better, but it's been long enough since we've done either that I can't tell you why.

I totally understand, dd9 is my first to beg for lapbooks, a couple of other children would tolerate the Catholic lapbooks, and a couple would 'run screaming'. We are using the lapbook approach with her for history.
Leanne and Martina will have more knowledge about the other units, but the Native American unit would be way too hard for a 6yr old. There is soo much there.
I ended up using a Viking unit from Homeschool Share, free and a slower pace that suits us.

We have the HOAC lapbooking set that goes along with From Sea to Shining Sea. It is fine, but my boys don't like to do it! Oh well, live and learn. Lapbooking is not for every child.
