Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have heard good things about this and enjoyed viewing the trailer. Our co-op might be showing it Thursday but did mention it isn't for younger kids, but didn't give ages. My ds is 9--I would love him to see it but am wondering if he can handle the car accident scene mentioned.
Input?

Probably. Paul was 10 when we first saw it, and thought it was wonderful. The scene is not too bloody--but there is a head wound victim on the ground. It is intense, but not graphic. You can preview it online, here.

MacBeth,
Thank you for the info. I did download the video but for some reason I could not view it. May have dh help at a later time. But, wanted to let others know the accident scene-which was my only concern about the video can be seen at:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual &videoID=1455924273
and I hope that came out OK-my first time trying the copy/paste thing here.
I am looking forward to seeing it with ds!

Our parish showed this during a homily (At first I was not sure how I felt about that exactly)

But the video was very good IMO.

I agree with MacBeth - the scene in question was intense but not graphic. definitely less graphic than tv these days. (Obviously my parish felt it was OK to show to the entire family - we were all at Mass together -- adults through babes.)

Overall it was a very well made video - very in keeping with current journalistic styles -- short clips, sound bites (but with substance). I think it will appeal to the younger crowd and hopefully inspire them to seek their vocation with sincere hearts (whether that be in the clergy, religious or laity).

It was inspiring to me - at least inspiring me to pray more about my sons vocations.

And as for replacing a homily - still not sure how I feel exactly - but the video was worth watching and they had a captive audience

HTH,
Erica

Hey Erica...I suppose it might depend on the quality of the usual homily .

Just joking, of course. But it is a captive audience, and the message is beautiful.

So true MacBeth... the homilies are usual wonderful... but I completely agree... the message is beautiful. It really renewed my focus on prayers for vocations in general (and in my family specifically)

I loved the film. We all did. They showed it after one of our Life Teen Masses back in October. The accident scene is intense, but not gory. I was in floods of tears. Very well done.

It was a very memorable evening - one of our schoolmates was the celebrant that night. He's our diocesan director of vocations. Very cool!

We enjoyed it too! I was so touched by the part on JPII. In fact, a few of us mom's were teary or crying. Wonderful film!
