Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dear friend, one of the few local ones I have.............is having a birthday next week! I decided last year to always buy her beautiful books to support her homeschooling or mothering missions. She is not Catholic. Last year I got her the books by Sharon Lovejoy.

What are some books that you love to own? books you MUST have???

I have been toying with Nature Journaling............but I am not sure.

I have to hurry so our bookstore can get it here by tueday next week!

Thank you,

Your humble and obedient servant,

Nature journal related ones?
I like Keeping a Nature Journal by Clare Walker Leslie and Charles Roth here
Beautiful Botanicals by Bente Stark King here is a beautiful book about drawing and painting flowers.
Then there are the field guides... I like Peterson's for everything except Insects!

HTH!

OK... any books...
How about a nice poetry anthology? I like The Harp and Laurel Wreath. I saw a nice hardbound one in Barnes and Noble, but the name escapes me.
Elizabeth's book is nice, so is CM companion... but I still say the ones I mentioned first are really good.

phooey! we all think the same!! :)

My mind is such a blank.......I was hoping you all could think different than me.

I have already thought of The Harp and Laurel Wreath......I already made her buy The Whole-hearted Child, she has read ALL of my CM books..and can borrow them anytime.....

Wonder if she bought Season's of a Mother's Heart? wonder if the bookstore can buy that one....

If you have a BN near you, you can check online to see if they have it online, and then go into the store and order it...

I'm sorry I couldn't think of more ideas
Maybe something 'classic' for her to read...
Or The Well Educated Mind by Susan Wise bauer?

Okay, what about Homeschooling With Gentleness by Suzie Andres? Haven't read it but it's sure gotten great reviews on the other forums. It's on my wish list now.

How about "The Hidden Art of Homemaking" by Edith Schaeffer (I think). I love this book, especially when things get a little overly chaotic and "shrill" around our house!   Kelly in FL
