I could use your prayers today. I feel like I am at wits end with trial after trial -- including the impending possible loss of dh's job, no results from the job applications being sent out regularly, the recent death of my f-i-l, and more.
Now we have a completely flooded basement today. Apparently a valve blew on the hot water heater and water was pouring from the heater onto the floor possibly all night. The carpets are completely soaked. Thankfully, nothing is lost because I store everything that touches the floor in the basement in plastic containers.
BUT STILL! The amount of work involved in emptying everything out of a room and a half so that the carpets can be taken up is unbelievable. We have to empty 8 complete bookshelves, 5 of which are over 6 feet high. And the kicker is that I just FINALLY organized those shelves completely right before the baby was born.
When I think of the work involved it makes me want to cry. Nevermind the cost involved with the plumber's bill and the insurance deductible for the carpet restoration.

Irene,
It does help to cry - so baby, flood the basement! Ok, so that isn't funny.
A wise and holy priest once told me that you're a spiritual millionaire when situations like these befall you. Offer these trials for whatever Our Lord needs it for the most.
And thank you for your suffering.

Irene,
I am so sorry! How overwhelming! That's what you get for organizing those shelves.
One job resource that Court used when he was facing lay-off in August was jobsbyfax.com. They send out a mass fax of your resume (you pick the type of company) and you get a much larger response than any of the career websites.
Good luck! I will offer up some of what is going on over here for you and yours.

Oh, Irene, I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. We had a basement flood of sorts this spring, so I can truly empathize. I'll be praying for you and your family in a special way!

Irene, I just saw this and am praying for you all! Our basement has flooded as well today but we are kind of used to it (or at least as used to it as one can get) because it has happened a few times.
I will also pray for your husband's job situation. It is so hard to trust and wait.
Hugs and prayers from,

Thanks for the heads up, Maria. I didn't realize it was completely full. I just deleted a bunch and it's now only 10% full. I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Irene...we just went through the same thing and we're still cleaning up.
We had all our Christmas ornaments and decorations stored in the basement close to the hot water heater...so they are gone.
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Our hot water heater blew yesterday too, Irene
--what is it with the Ides of November??
However, ours is in the unfinished basement and leaked mostly to the outside, with little damage done -- and I don't have a newborn. I so know whaqt you mean about trials heaped on trials. Have been there! Oh, I will be praying for you today and in the next few days.
