Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Wondered if anyone else has had this issue come up. When ds does poorly on a test, I ask him to re-take the test. He responds, "What's the point? No one else but us is ever going to see it." I have plenty of reasons that would be "the point," but wondered what you do in your homeschools.

For instance, last week he took a test map of Europe in 1517. He studied too little and scored 66%. Geography is one of his better subjects and I knew he could do better. I insisted he re-take the test. He scored 100% after we reviewed study skills. When I congratulated him, he still moaned, "But what does it matter. No one will see this but us."

Have you ever had similar complaints? How have you handled the issue of there being no other students and/or teachers to share results with? Yes, my dh does plenty of praising of Kyle's work.

Thank you for any input.

Victoria,

I tend to try to explain my reasons to my sons - I think it matters because of xyz.

Of course, they are also free to explain their POV! lol!

And I try to use examples from my own life or from the life of another, to support my thoughts.

I know you probably already do this but I thought I'd offer the support.
