Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi there, anyone going to be using level 1A or 2 or any combination thereof for this next year??? We've kind of started (slowly) with the Ancient Egypt portion of 1A and will get into full gear after the West Coast Camping Trip (whoo hoo) in August!!

Just wondering if anyone out there is doing this too and how you're incorporating your "real learning" into this mix!!!

I too am considering using level 1A but am unsure of how to merge things together without it being too overwhelming. I wanted to do level 1A using basically the religion,literature,english,math,music/art appreciation, and handiworks and the sub the history and the geography with FIAR. That was my thought but I am still thinking that it looks like an awful lot.My dd is starting the third grade this year.
I know this was probably not much help...

Hi Darlene, that does sound like a lot, have you already done Ancient history for her?? We hadn't really done any in depth yet so we decided to go with the Ancient Egypt portion of 1A and move forward to the Level 2 Greece and Rome. I'm going to use the Science with Greece with both of my dc as it will be interesting enough I think along with all our nature study we should be well covered. Also we haven't studied English history yet and I thought it would be a good year for it as last year we hit American History pretty hard. Other than Math, everything else should combine pretty well, Oh and they'll have different poems to memorize and copywork and writing will be at different levels. Gee, I hope this doesn't sound to rambly. I don't know if this helps at all for anyone, just throwing it out

No, I have not done Ancient History with her yet. The resource that I was going to use for that is the Learning Throught History magazines. I really like what I have seen on them so far. History is NOT my strong suit so it is really hard for me to teach her when I do not know. I am trying to pre-read some history now.
I also tend to be an overplanner...but that is another post,(LOL)

I haven't seen those yet, and I'm re-learning history too right along with my kiddos I can very much relate on the over-planning thing, that's me as well. Let me know how things go for you and where you end up!! Cheers!

Hi Meredith,

I have been meaning to post before this, but here it is. I am using 1B and 2 so mine is just a little bit different. I am trying to combine as much as I can. They will be reading the same Saint stories, and for history, I am taking from 1B, which is American History, we will just be delving more into it for dd9. Since dd9 is not reading up to grade level and dd6 is beginning to read, we will combine the reading program.

I am hoping this works out well. Dd9 is not crazy about the idea that dd6 is beginning to read, so I hope there won't be to much conflict.

Look forward to meeting you in two weeks.

God Bless
Robynn in Lancaster, CA
