Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was just putting the touches on next years biology plans and thought I remembered Jen having a blog with great links on it for highschool biology. Am I out to lunch?

Here you go, Kristie!

Biology: A Panorama of Life

We're wrapping up our Biology studies in the next week! It's been a very enjoyable year! Khan academy lectures were fantastic! Hope you find some resources on the sidebar of the blog you can use in your Biology year.

Wonderful Jen.

How did you use the Khan lectures? Were they scheduled?

I scheduled the lectures as part of her day, in her Biology time. She would view a lecture, complete a written narration and/or diagram of the lecture (this was required), and then complete assigned Biology reading for the day. She posted one of her written narrations on her Biology blog, but she decided she preferred keeping them all together in a Biology notebook, so that's what she did for the most part.

There are a total of 129 Khan Academy lectures. I divided that by the number of terms in our year: 3, which is 43. I required 43 lectures a term, which ended up being about one lecture day for a 10 week term.

Am I looking in the wrong place? I count 71 Khan lectures. What am I missing?

You'll laugh....To calculate I just looked at my list of lectures in my notebook, and at the bottom of each column I had written the numbers of what I *thought* were the column totals in pencil, so I just added those up to get 129. But instead the numbers I had written after each column was the subtotal by the end of the column. Anyway...I miscounted because I just added up my penciled in numbers. And Khan has added lectures to Biology since I printed my list, too, so there are more there now than when we started.

Sounds like something I would do!
