I was wondering if anyone is a subscriber to Enchanted Learning - and whether it is worth it. I would like to use their worksheets for dolch words with my 1st and 2nd grader, and I do have a 4 year-old who I am sure would enjoy some of the other activities.
The website just seems so vast that I didn't want to sit around clicking on everything! I would love any reviews!

Andrea,
I love, love, love Enchanted Learning! I tried a couple other sites, like Edhelper and School Express, but of them all, Enchanted Learning is my favorite! I've printed up TONS of worksheets to help my kids with things like enjoying learning about money, learning about certain insects, Johnny Appleseed, etc. They especially like doing anything that they get to turn into a book, which a lot of the activities are. I also thought it was easier to navigate than the other sites, and I didn't spend nearly as much time on the site as when I tried to put worksheets together from, say, Edhelper.
Hope this helps!
God bless.

I love their site as well.... only my kids don't . They are just not big into worksheets, crosswords, fill in the blank booklets, etc. So much cool stuff there, but my dc would rather narrate from a book. Go figure.
One terrific thing is that you *can* print a lot of their items for free to test the waters.

I've always used their free stuff but my friends that have subscribed have LOVED it. My friends and I have used their worksheets for unit studies and as cutouts for lapbooks.

My first one was like this. My second one might like it more, I haven't tried. But I had a year's subscription and hardly used it at all.
I found I was using things for other people (nature study group) and not my own children.

I love this site as well.
Its a great site for printing various outlines of countries etc etc.
I should have subscribed years ago, but I get around it though, using lots of there free stuff.
There simple explanations are good.

I don't subscribe right now, but probably will again soon. I love their site, and it's wonderful that you can print things for free, but I do prefer the subscriber versions of the pages!
I used the free version of this site for some time a few years ago, just to print resource support type things - like a diagram of a microscope for the kids to label since they were learning about how to use a microscope, or a diagram of parts of a leaf to label, or something about Columbus for Columbus Day. That sort of thing.
Then my 3rd little fella wanted to do "school" like big brother and big sister. So I subscribed to the site and printed a few little sheets for him to color and write on each week. He really enjoyed it. This was the greatest benefit to having the subscriber version to Enchanted Learning, and I did end up using it quite a bit. Of course, we still read together, and he was too little to really be doing school, but he had his own basket, and a couple of his own books and his little Enchanted Learning sheets...so he felt big, and like he was a part of what was going on in the learning room. And it only cost me $20.
I subscribed for 2 years. By the middle of the second year we weren't using it much anymore....because just like Melinda and Jenn stated, the kids prefer books far and away over worksheets. So when my 3rd little fella started learning to read, I didn't subscribe to Enchanted Learning again. My 4th is almost of an age that I'm considering subscribing again though. She really wants to be involved while the big kids do their school.
Benefits of subscribing to Enchanted Learning:
** Printer friendly pages to print that don't have superfluous information on them.
** Members have access to more than non-members
** Ad free version of the site.
Benefits of using Enchanted Learning:
** A PLETHORA of topics to choose from
** The monthly activity calendar is fantastic and I like that there are free activity ideas and resource sheets linked directly from the day's significant event.
** Can be a great science resource/supporting role! There are many natural history and science based resource sheets that can offer a good supporting role for elementary science! (I used the Biology printouts a lot as we set up our little home lab.)
** If you do notebooking or lapbooking, this site could be a huge resource for you!
** It's also great for little, little people that want their own special "schoolwork" to do!
{{{SIDE NOTE FOR iPHONE USERS: EL offers a free iphone app called TapQuizMap. It's a geography app. My kids enjoy it when we're sitting in the dentist office or something like that.}}}
Drawbacks of Enchanted Learning:
** Worksheet based (We're not a workbook family in general, but I don't mind using a worksheet every now and then to support something we're reading/learning/exploring about. I'd rather subscribe and have a ton of choices than buy one or two workbooks so EL fits my limited worksheet needs in that way.)
** You have to REMEMBER that you have it as a resource and make use of it...otherwise you've wasted your $$.
****************************************************
Hope that helps in making a decision about whether to subscribe or not, Andrea! I used the free side of the site for almost a year before I finally subscribed and I think that's one of the fantastic things about Enchanted Learning - that you can sample and do so much for free! Once I realized that I was visiting the site enough that it had become something of a habit to consider the resources they offered, I subscribed.

YES! Love it! I like that I can choose specific topic review sheets esp. for math that my DS might be struggling with. I've printed the Venn diagrams for both big kids. I can't even say what all I've searched but those are 2 things I used just this week.
