I posted a thread a few days ago, How to show progress, in this same forum. Ohio requires either testing, or evaluation by a certified teacher. I am choosing the evaluation, my good friend is a 3rd grade teacher.
If you live in a state the requires either testing or an evaluation by a certified teacher, HOW does this look with the way you homeschool?
I am so drawn to CM, but so afraid that I won't have enough or that dictation/narration/copywork isn't going to suffice and show progress like Q&A work.
Help. I need someone to hold my hand.

In my state, testing is required. I order the CAT test each year from Seton.
Our schooling is very CMish, and that has not been a problem as far as taking the tests.

I'm in OH also and have used an eclectic/unschoolish approach to our home education for the past 10 years. I think it helped that I found an unschooling-friendly evaluator who understands that it is the parent who is best suited to evaluate whether the child has made "progress" or not. Sometimes the progess is very subtle and can't be shown on a piece of paper for a third party to evaluate.
Also, remember the Ohio Administrative Code is written in a somewhat nebulous way for good reason: "A written narrative indicating that a portfolio of samples of the child's work has been reviewed and that the child's academic progress for the year is in accordance with the child's abilities." So, the evaluator, in good faith, CAN sign off, even though your child's portfolio may not look like a portfolio from that of a public school student.
Personally, I think it is very important to find an evaluator who is either a home educator or understands that home education (in our state) does not need to mimic what is done in the schools. In either case, the person absolutely should be familiar with the OAC so that they don't attempt to require something from your child that the state doesn't require. 
P.S. (the same goes for your school district...don't give them more than what the OAC sets forth as being required!!!)

RELAX...
You have a friend to be your reviewer. Ask what she would like to see. She will sign the paper you send in with your notification for the next year. She will also see your kids and see how they are doing in real life. Really, all she needs to know is they are making progress in the right direction. Which can be seen in dictation and copywork, talking to the child, and you.
Our teacher reviewer mostly talks to my kids, looks at a few papers of writing, a math workbook or notebook, and gives me lot's of positive support.
I document my homeschool journey by saving anything they do that is writing--when younger I copy letters to grandparents or friends or thank you notes and write the date on the bottom. I save the "reciepts" from the library books. I write a little journal of things they did I can count for math or language arts(playing a game of Boggle for example). All this documentation has rarely been looked at except by me at the end of the year and I see how much we HAVE done and I press onward!!  This is all kept in a notebook with their name and grade on it. AS they get older I pull in more structure and save those workbooks and projects also.
You've got a reviewer who knows you. You are just fine. Relax and enjoy homeschooling!!
