I'm so excited that some of my new books have already arrived at our house! I am following along with Mater Amablis (thanks Michele for this resource!!!) and tweaking with AO and WTM resources. I started our outside nature studies last week with a sketch of our yard in winter. We will sketch it througout the year to notice the changes that occur.
I almost, almost threw my plans out the window and went with a packaged curriculum, but I just wasn't satisfied with all the courses (and the tweaking was going to be very expensive). I reworked my plans and decided that being electic with our studies was going to be easier and more exciting for us. Plus, I can use all my resources for the next three children since I am not doing consumable workbooks.

Oh, what fun! I feel the same way with working with CM resources -- the books don't go to waste!

That's how we feel everytime there is a book package waiting at our doorstep.
And with CM, the books just seem to keep showing up .

I am hardly doing any consumables either. It is definitely more expensive this way, but I feel good knowing that I will only have a to buy a couple of things for the rest of the my kids. What are you most excited about getting? I love to hear about books people are using!
I completely agree with you about the boxes appearing in your doorstep. We are supposed to get one I ordered from Germany on Thursday and we are leaving on Wed to go to the HSing convention in Greenville. I guess that means I just have to wait a little longer. I am NOT a patient person no matter how much God tries to work with me on that!!!!!

I received The Earth by Barbara Taylor, 50 Famous Stories, Classic Myths To Read Aloud, Little Acts of Grace, This Is Our Country, and The Burgess Book For Children (sorry, don't have time for links).
I'm trying to spread out my book purchases over the next few months. If I order and get them this summer, I'd like go with a more continuous school year instead of just Sept-May.

We have all of those except TIOC, and love them all! I'm going through 50 Famous for the third time with my 3rd daughter and they're such good stories!

I love MA it was a life saver for dd and I.
She really didn't like to write, so we sat on the lounge and read and she drew.
She has such happy memories- we both do of exclusively MA.
We now tweak it, with other curricula.
but we love our lounge time together.
We have re read and love our book suggestions from MA.
