Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you ever feel like there are so many rabbit trails you'd love to explore that you can't decide where to go next? We are like that lately. Ds and I have been discussing what to do after our Lent unit is over. We are tempted to do so many things! Medieval times, Japan, gardening, rivers...so much to learn and it all sounds like fun!! We are currently doing 2 units at once (Sacred Architecture and Dogs) because we couldn't choose, but that is just crazy to keep up with! So I need to settle on one topic for after Easter, plus leaving room for the inevitable side trails. But how to decide? I guess its one of the downsides of not having a curriculum to follow. so...anyone else feeling this way?

We just started doing a lap book on "A Cricket in Times Square"---the first time I've done a lap book/unit study on a BOOK as opposed to a particular subject (like previous studies on the Rain Forest, and Dinosaurs---big hits in this household). I get the same free fallin'feeling you describe, Theresa, of being all over the map in what we're studying! But it's also nice having an overarching "theme" to our rabbit trails---makes it feel a little more cohesive, anyway. Hmmmm, not sure how you could tie Dogs and Sacred Architecture together, though, that might be tough!

I feel the same way! I friend recently asked how I cover so many areas of interest as opposed to sticking to one thing at a time. I told her that I considered it more of a fault than a gift! I can't seem to keep myself on one thing, so the kids and I cover several at once. As you said, Theresa, too many tempting rabbit trails!

How about combining the rabbit trails? Japanese gardens, rivers of Japan, medieval Japan, rivers during medieval times. Get the idea?
