Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know if there is a science curriculum or supplement that is designed to help with the way the science is presented on the ACT's? I'll try to be more clear, you know how books such as the Sadlier Oxford vocabulary books are geared to help with vocabulary on standardized tests are available to grade schooler and middle school students...well something like that...that can be used for younger students along with my regular science books, like an extra help. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense, I'm listening to the racket at the breakfast table.

I don't know of any prep book. I think that the Science section on the ACT is not so much about knowing science content as it is about interpreting information in the way it is typically presented in science publications. What I mean is that it's mostly about being able to look at graphs, charts, tables and the like and answer questions in light of the information you took from those things. The subject matter displayed by the graphs, etc. is scientific data, but the student doesn't need to know what it actually means. The questions ask things like "In which two years was the rainfall the greatest in the southeastern United States?" and there is an accompanying graph of annual rainfall in the various regions which the student uses to answer the question. At least that's what I"ve seen when I"ve looked at sample ACTs.

Peace,
Nancy
