Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

YES, I am... because I feel like Seton has been good to us here in the start of our homeschooling journey.. I don't know that it's getting the kids the "thrive" they need.

I'm not 100% sure I'm ready to take on a true CM approach to learning. But I'm looking at possibly doing more a classical style.. MODG? I'm so green, SETON was an easy answer, good solid faith, and "do this today, tomorrow and the next".. I am NOT ready to write a lesson plan on my own

(FWIW, I have almost 10 yo (5th grade-ish), almost 7yo (2nd grade-ish), and upcoming Kinder, for next "year")

Krystin,

I have used Seton on and off over the years (I have been a homeschool mom now for over 20 years), but I made the switch two years ago to MODG and I am so very happy with it.

The first year (Last year) I started the younger children in MODG and gave the older children an option. One daughter, a junior, last year picked one subject through MODG. I purposely decided NOT to "force" another daughter, a strong choleric, to use MODG since she is such a self-starter and was very happy with Seton, but I continued to discuss MODG and their curriculum. This year the oldest daughter at home, a senior now, chose to use MODG along with two classes at a nearby college AND my choleric daughter chose MODG for all her classes! My children really are thriving with this approach and I find it much easier to keep up with not only where they are in school, but also the management of the house. I love the light load on Fridays which allows us to go to a Monday co-op by doing Friday work on Mondays and Monday work on Tuesdays, etc...

That being said, please do not think I am saying it is easy! Over the years I have come to realize that all of these things - teaching, managing, organizing, sacrificing, etc.... are not easy! They take prayer, patience and perseverence as I am sure all you 4real moms know!

I know different approaches work better for different personalities/learning styles etc... I think the reason MODG has been so helpful to me is that I am not naturally organized and not a great planner either, but I love hands on and nature! I also really love learning in little chunks of information versus cramming. I just think it is such a win/win positive fun way for the children to learn!

Prayers coming your way as you discern God's will for next year!

Deus tibi benedicas,

Jill
