Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm interested in a Catholic literature based curriculum from a "box" so to speak. I love the idea of Sonlight, but its not worth it to me to have to change it over and over again to add Catholic content.

Does a Catholic literature based curriculum exist? I'm looking for one that already has lessons plans, etc. We are expecting our 8th child in Jan and I just don't have the time to constantly put something together. I want that part done for me.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

In Christ,
Pat

There are some isolated plans online, but not comprehensive. What ages are you looking for and what did you use last year?

I understand that Tapestry of Grace gives a Catholic and Orthodox perspective. Cathy Duffy reviewed it. Maybe that will work for you?

Thank you for your replies! I'll look into TOG. I'm looking to do American History next year with my 1st, 3rd, and 5th grader. I think it would work well. My 1st grader is advanced. My 5th grader struggles. The three together will make a nice group to do read alouds, etc. My older three work independently using mostly Seton. It works great for them, so I don't want to change anything for them.

Personally - I would use Sonlight in a heartbeat if it were Catholic!

In Christ,
Pat

Another option might be RC History. Using history as a spine, they have extensive reading lists and lesson plan ideas - not so much day by day, but definitely a thorough road map, lots of project/notebook/hands on learning. It also is differentiated instruction for the different levels in the "Classical Method" using living books/literature. I have the materials, though I have not started using it yet. Cathy Duffy also recommended this.

Its so funny you mentioned RC History! I've been looking into it the past week and I really think that might be my best option for now. I won't be able to do all American history, since vol 3 and 4 aren't out yet, but I'm going to start with vol 1 next year and go from there. That's for your reply!

In Christ,
Pat

Have you looked into Mother of Divine Grace? I think it's more of the Trivium approach but she does use quite a lot of interesting books.

I don't know anything about this provider except what is on their website, but it might be what you are looking for (?) http://www.angelicum.net/curriculum/angelicum-homeschool-pro gram/.
