Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Not sure how it will work, but We are looking at studying one topic a week. We have been using a schooly type timetable for years, but I am seeing a need to change styles.
I will clarify.
After Faith, Timestables, and Maths, we will concentrate on one topic for a week.
we break our year into terms of 10 weeks here in australia. So my thought is to have 5 topics and repeat them until the end term.
Has anyone done this before and if so, has it worked OK.
Thanks Leanne

We have used this approach but found it best to spend three weeks at a time rather than a week. It worked for one child in particular, to this day he prefers to concentrate on only one subject at a time. Yesterday for example he did two weeks of English work, today he concentrated on only History.

There is a learning philosophy that does something similar, where students work on one topic at a time for several weeks - usually more like a month at a time -of maths, then maybe language arts, then history, or chemistry etc. It seems to work well for them. I think it would be satisfying to go quite deeply into a subject, and then, that learning philosophy says, let the new knowledge "sleep" and become part of the child in the child's own way. It's something I am considering working on with my children actually as our new timetable looks so chopping and changey, very schooly, and it makes my heart sink!

We have been using this style now for about a week and a bit.
Its brought a depth to learning and concentration that I didn't see before,
early days though.
lucy, the reason why we changed was because it all looked 'choppy and changy'-and dd was ready to move on
