Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What's your favorite balancing scale? I'm hoping to get a high-quality scale that will stand the test of time (and kids that aren't always easy on things). My thoughts are of an antiqued-pan balancing scale (preferrably nothing plastic).

Here's a picture of what I have in mind: Balancing Scale

However, I'm quite certain that I'm not willing to spend $249 for it! And, of course, I don't have my heart set on this particular model - but this is the image that's floating around in my head for what I'd like to have.

What would you recommend?

Oh, that would be dream scale, wouldn't it?

For Christmas my younger son received a HABA Balancing Scale. I bought it from Oompa, but they don't seem to have it anymore.

I know it's not on the same level as the grand scale, but it's quite functional. The bowls are a painted metal and easy to hang and remove on the scale. The bowls don't have much, but it really does balance and is a lot of fun even for us older folk.

Thanks for the suggestion! ... I do love HABA products, and that's a great place to start looking.

Not quite what you are looking for, Chris, but here's a math balance that has stood the test of time in our home.

Love,
