Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So I started playing with this for scouts.. thinking it would be something most people would have access too.. and could have multiple people adding things (all the scout masters and various boys in leader positions)

And then I thought.. well my mom will be in town.. it would be nice if she could SEE what we're doing and not just try and piece it together by what I say.. and then I should get my sister on there too so mom can see what's up with everyone..

and then last night for the first time dh and I were talking about the possibility of getting unlimited texting on our cell phones so that we could get notices from google calender that something is coming up.. and we'd be able to share calenders easier.. he could see what's on mine (with all the kids stuff) and I could see his.. which mostly doesn't happen at all right now.

Does anyone else use this?

Is it as useful as it seems like?

I already use my phone calender for TONS of things and find it greatly helpful.. but to be able to grab things that aren't on my calender that would help me.. because the idea of having to add my dh's things to my calender is really overwhelming..

I love Google calendar! I don't use it on my phone because I don't know how or if my phone can even do that. But I do love that you can have multiple calendars, hide the ones you don't need to see, and import others. My parents use it to see what weekends we're available and I like to see my sister's crazy work schedule to know when I can call her.

I love it too. It's so helpful to have the color coding and to be able to turn calendars off. We have music, school, swimming, soccer, etc each with it's own calendar color. Instead of having a separate calendar, dh just added his to mine but I can turn it off and on. We don't have access to it on the phone, but it's been really helpful to call Tim and ask, "What do I have on the calendar today?" when I'm out and think I've forgotten something. I print it out and carry a hard copy with me. I realized the other day that you can search your calendar too, so if you had a dentist appointment months ago but can't remember when, you can search.

I was thinking about doing this...but my question is, can other places in Google's networks see my calendar? Like blogspot users, google's facebook thingy, etc.

Google default is private.

You can check to make it public and searchable.. you can also check it to make it public but to hide details so it'll only show if you're busy or available.

You can also keep it private but share with particular people (so I could share with my mom for instance).

And within that private sharing you have the option for only sharing that you're free or busy.. or sharing event details or allowing others to add changes or allowing others to add changes and manage sharing.

So I could share details with my mom but not let her make changes..

I could share details and make changes with my dh's account so that he could add in things at need from his account.

I could make a calender for a group like the local Boy Scout Troop that only is given to those in the troop but all the leaders could add changes and manage the sharing rather than everything having to go through one person only.

And all of those would be private without being searchable publicly.

Thank you, Jodie. Maybe I will finally succumb to online calendaring.
