Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen this? I'm just wondering if it is similar to HSOYD or if it is very different?

I bought this book used, thinking it would be helpful in planning for high school. However, I did not find it useful at all. The author is extremely wordy and rambling. She includes MANY reproducible forms in her books...I don't honestly know how anyone would have the time to fill out that many forms...and I didn't agree with some of her ideas (such as reading only a synopsis of literature instead of reading whole books). She was trying very hard to give support to parents to homeschool through high school but I don't think she included enough "meat" or real ideas to make the book worthwhile.

I haven't seen the other resource you mentioned so I cannot compare the two, sorry.

JMO,

Patty

I agree with Patty on this one -
When I read this book I thought to myself that my highschooler better be an independent learner, because I am going to be busy filling out papers to help her

If you are thinking about reading it, I recommend waiting for interlibrary loan.

I found HSOYD to be actually helpful.
I have been on a binge of reading all the Homeschool your highschooler things I can find.

Thanks everyone. I have a friend who is raving about this book so it helps to hear another side to the picture.

I agree with Patty and Trish. I think the premise is the same as HSOYD (different courses for different kids and outside the box), but it's not executed nearly as well. It's rambling and disjointed and not very polished.
