Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What kind of a background in World Geography would be necessary to enjoy and do well in a high school level course? I am specifically looking at MODG World Geography but would appreciate any other suggestions as well.

Thank you for any input that you can give me.

We are using the MODG Geography syllabus this year, and I don't think you need any background in it, really. We didn't follow the order they had, but still covered it all. For example, we waited until the end of the year to read Journey to the Center of the World (which to my thinking deals with geology, not geography). They find things on maps (lots of maps!!! I ended up having them put all the info that is asked for on several maps for each continent because it got too messy to add everything they were asking for onto one map.), answer questions about each continent (some of them we couldn't find in the atlases and had to google online), and memorize facts. They also do landforms.

It's very straightforward with no prerequisite knowledge.

I tell you, the overlap here boggles my mind. Even in Early Elementary, I find that my Science curriculum spine covers geology, but then, the "geography" book I had looked at does, too. I know all of the disciplines overlap, but these two subjects seem to confuse me--perhaps because there is inconsistency in what is thought to be a part of the individual subjects.
