I can barely contain my happiness!!!
PLANNING!
ORGANIZATION!
ORDERING THE DAY!
A home for all three in a brand new forum that will be unveiled with our cheery new look after we re-open from Easter break!!! My heart is aflutter!
Planning and Ordering Our Days
Quote:
Planning and Ordering Our Days — Are you thrilled finding a new use for a basket or bin? Do you need help figuring out how to connect all the dots and books in your daily lesson plans? Looking for some planning strategies? Inspired by great organizing tools and finds? If so...EXERCISE THOSE TYPING FINGERS! Planning and Ordering Our Days will be a brand new forum dedicated to providing a unique place of support for you, the member, with planning and organizing tools and ideas that assist us in Living our Learning. We look forward to sharing favorite tools and organizing tips, and hope this forum will be a blessing to those who would like to design more of their day or their curriculum. |
|
|
In living out a lifestyle of Living Learning, the planning part is really where the rubber meets the road. And there are a variety of different ways to plan. Some folks plan with bookmarks and penciled notes, some with planning programs, some with post-its, and others with various software or programs on the computer! There is not one right way!
This forum hopes to encompass ideas for planning as well as helpful discussion about those tools and ideas that assist busy home educating moms in organizing and ordering our days. There are SO many great tools and ideas!! Often, its the sharing of a variety of ideas - some that worked well and some that didn't work well in a particular home - that spark one single idea for a mom to consider and try.
There are many great planning, organizing and ordering the day threads here already! These will be moved to the new forum.
We hope this forum is a place for IDEAS to land so that we may each discern and consider the ideas shared, translating a few into our own homes!
If you're excited about chatting about planning, organizing and ordering the day, what kind of ideas are you looking forward to brainstorming and sharing?

I'm just wondering if participation in this forum will require ownership of a label maker

This is just the thing I have been looking for.....that and my label maker. Where did I put that thing???? Oh yeah! I don't own one.
Seriously Jen. I am thrilled about this new forum. I was just looking over new planners. I am finally ready to let go of my "must have a packaged curriculum" mindset. I can't wait to see what all these lovely women have to share with us!!!!!

Mine too!!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited about this new forum! Won't it be great to have one central spot where all our Planning Convos are? Imagine clicking through pages of Planning and Organizing threads, and just picking one to peruse! Doesn't that sound heavenly?
I have learned SO MUCH from everyone here over the years about planning and ordering my days in this crazy way-of-life with my children....it sort of just "seeps in" even if I'm not intentionally reading or focusing on it...and I'm so grateful!
Here's to a magnificent reign of Planning and Ordering Our Days!

Be still my heart, I feel faint!
(LOL, my 7yo read this over my shoulder and gave me the rolling eye 'your such a doofus mom' look)
Is this forum mainly for SCHOOL organization? Or things like laundry systems, chores, etc also?

Maybe one of you labelling pros can help me re-organize my planning...we're going to be down to one learner at home next year, boo hoo...I can already tell it will be an enormous transition.

Ok - good, shew! I don't have a label maker but I do have tape and a marking pen!
I think, based on past history, that I will be a frequent reader of this new forum.
Like Amy, though, I'd like to know if it's just dedicated to schoolish-related planning and organizing, or if there will be discussions of setting up chore routines, how to organize your kitchen, getting your van cleaned out on a semi-regular basis so you can cope with an extended period of time with outside activities, how to organize your time so you can eat healthy food and face down gestational diabetes instead of grabbing a piece of frozen pizza in between refereeing light saber battles...
Etc., etc.

I actually do own a label maker but, based on what I've seen from some of you ladies, I have only begun to plumb the depths of its capabilities.

Amy~
We're still hashing out the details...but it would be helpful to hear other things/subjects/threads that you'd envision "living here." What are your DREAMS for this forum?

I think that it would involve all organization and planning. It seems pretty difficult in home education to separate the two--which is one of the reasons planning is such a hot topic here! A daily rhythm would mean fitting in housework, family life, AND school. The same with all the "stuff" that would go along with that. At least that's MY dream

I agree with Lindsay. It's hard to separate homeschool from all the other things that need to be planned and organized in a home.
I would love to have all the various planning techniques, planner styles, schedules, shelf-organizing systems, etc. in some sort of organized format so they would be easy to search. ( I know, I'm asking alot here!) Maybe have things "cataloged" by topic? I'm not sure exactly what that would involve, probably alot of work, but Suzanne, you did ask for dreams, right?

And starting a sticky index from the beginning would be SO much easier than playing catch-up later.
