Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm working on creating a science set of lesson plans that incorporates books already on the market {Magic School Bus, Let's Read And Find Out Science, Etc}.

I've had several people online express interest in getting a copy to use with their children, so I am considering selling it as an E-Book online, but I'm worried about copyright law. I don't copy pages, etc, but do mention Titles, pages, etc in the lesson plans, and experiment names from some of the books. I don't want to get hit with a lawsuit from Scholastic or the like for breaching copyright law.

Do I need to worry about copyright laws just for mentioning Titles, pages, etc?

I know several of the posters here are authors, so I thought someone here might know the answer. If this isn't in the right forum feel free to move it.

I don't know! But while you're waiting for a real answer, have you looked to see what the copyright says in the front of the books that you quoted?

I wouldn't think books would mind listing their experiment (just not the whole "recipe" for it) since might mean people would purchase their book...

I'm sure someone who really knows will jump in.

I would be very interested in this too. I need to do more research myself. I am working on a few Montessori guides, and I am trying hard not to mention specific resources by title (first, to allow for the greatest flexibility; second, for the copyright issue).

Perhaps Cay Gibson would be a help for us on this one? I'm just now needing to get off the computer, but it just hit me - she did the Catholic Mosaic and if anyone might know what we can and cannot use with/without permission, she just might!

I too would love to see what you've got for incorporating the science stuff. We're doing the Magic School Bus set of 7 kits in the next few weeks (starting soon - I just posted a preliminary review on my blog yesterday - we are SO excited to get started!)

Copyright law is tricky, but this might help:

Fair Use
