Totally! But I don't know what I am switching to yet!
I had planned to do workboxes and never did. Now I am wishing I had and trying to plan for that. Right now, I am just praying about it hoping for some clarity.

We did a shakeup at the beginning of Advent. Went from an eclectic mix of relaxed schooling to being quite Latin-Centered Curriculum-ish and loving it. We added (or returned to): Latina Christiana 1, Hands-On Equations, Timez Attack, Michael Clay Thompson's "Town Level" language arts series, reading The Burgess Animal book for science, Famous Men of Rome for history. Oh, and Apples and Pears Spelling for my dyslexic oldest (I think we may have started that in Nov?). 6yo still has her big "2nd Grade Workbook" from Barnes & Noble, but is listening in and enjoying a lot of what the girls are doing.

Yes...switching to Teaching Company for Economics and Chemistry for 11th and 12th grader.
Still loving Teaching Textbooks math (everyone doing this) and adding on to American and British Literature lists. The boys received some classics for Christmas:)

I hear ya, Molly!! Yes, a shake up is coming...I think I am going to go from FIAR to MA. I have most of the books already and sometimes FIAR is great and sometimes a bust! So, some MA with FIAR as a "break" here and there is what I am going to try.

I actually only plan one semester at a time in-depth (we also follow my husband's college teaching schedule).
That being said, oldest DD (age 7/first grade)and I agree that she needs to work on her handwriting. Mainly re-learning lower case manuscript letters and learning how to write on lined-paper in correct proportion.
I'm also cutting back her Explode the Code online lessons and incorporating some vocabulary and writing workbook work. We're also cutting out Greek/Latin root cards for right now.
I'm still trying to meet with our DRE so I can figure out how I want to handle FHE preparation.

Yes, we're going to start doing monthly unit studies, sort of like waldorf main lessons, but we'll still have daily math and Lang. arts. Our January unit is going to be the human body. I have the lesson plans up on my blog if you want to see what I've got planned.
I'm also planning on doing Prima Latina with all three kids together. I tried it a few years ago with dd, and it was a bust. I think she was just a bit too young. I think she'll do better this time around, but I don't know how the boys will do yet. I guess we'll see!

Yup.
Totally dropped SL's core 5 in favor of SOTW IV with my 7th grader.
Totally dropped SL's LA 5. Doing a mish mash of other stuff that.
Dropped a mish mash of 1st grade stuff and going back to FIAR.

I have ditched my plans for the rest of the year for history and science and are taking it one month at a time. We started doing a unit on the book Chasing Vermeer this past week. We will do this for as long as it takes us to read the book. We are loving our time with this book. We have been going down some really neat rabbit trails. After the last 3 months, I am enjoying this type of learning and teaching.
I have no idea what we will do after Vermeer. I like that aspect of it, too.
Blessings,

Rethinking several things but not sure yet what I am changing. I have already ditched Latin for 2 children and I am seriously trying to reduce mommy intensive subjects in favor of more independent work. Right now I have spelling as an intensive subject for 4 children, writing intensive for 5, math for 1, and a first grader where everything is intensive. I am going to pray, discuss with dh, freewrite my ideas, and decide.

I've moved to taking one month at a time as well, Julia. I feel like approaching our learning this way respects where each one of the kids are at as well as what is happening in our family life. It seems very natural and stress-free to me. And it keeps me from feeling like I'm boxed in to a plan, because then I always end up kicking and screaming my way out of the plan anyway.
Anyway, it's working for us.

We are using All about spelling, which is mom-intensive. They need me for it every day. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes of my day to get through 4 children with this because they are all on different leveles. Two of my dc needs this for sure, so I won't be dropping it for them, but it will cut the time down to about 30 minutes of my day.

We have been doing it this way for many years and I really like it. Of course I don't stick to one month exactly, but tend to think of things in chunks of 3-6 weeks at a time.Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer depending on interest levels. Any time I try to plan for longer stretches it fails utterly.

I feel like we need to make some changes, but I spent my homeschool budget at the beginning of this year. I should plan for this since it happens most every year.
