Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation for a girl we have known for a long time. She's great! My problem is, this letter is actually for an English class that she is taking and I've not been given the person to whom it should be written or even what I am recommending her for! This is very silly if you ask me, but I'm willing to help this girl out. So, does anybody know how to even a start a letter like this? Should I just put "To Whom It May Concern", or perhaps "Dear Sir," or just leave it blank "Dear ____".
I realize this is a silly question but I don't know where else to ask!
Thanks!
Becky

why not ask for more information? i think you would write a better letter if you knew what the letter was for, if you had an actual name for addressing purposes.

Or you could skip the salutation and write something general, like,
"I have known Becky Smith for 15 years. She is a bright, capable girl who can achieve anything she puts her mind to. etc etc"
Of course more specific would be much better.
You could write something general to at least get it done, and then if you have more specifics, you could tailor it later.
