Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was over on Homeschool Buyers Coop for the first time and saw these online science courses.

Any opinions? Theresa!??

I was a science major but found my highschool science dull, dull, dull. Didn't get interesting till third year University with microbiology, limnology etc.

Oh, here are the links
Plato Biology
Thinkwell Science

I've heard nothing but good things for thinkwell. And hsbc is a great deal.
Plato is not as user friendly is my understanding.

I'm sorry, but I have no experience with these things. I'm not a big fan of online courses in general.

You know what- after looking at it further, and basically after staring at the screen!, I don't like the look of it either. My ds is very much a 'book' guy, like his mom, and I think the format would not be condusive to his learning type. Also, the price tag is a bit scary for what it is (considering you can't reuse it for the younger children!).

I agree Martha.

I found another one I think- Cambell's Exploring Life Biology. (saw it on the WTM boards- which I never usually go to...looks like it comes well reccomended!)

In case anyone is interested, this is the textbook we use as a reference:Campbell's Biology
except I think ours is the 5th edition, slightly older.College level. Exceedingly thorough.

We have bought Thinkwell's CDs (biology and chemistry) used or new for less than $20ppd. I consider it a great supplement to a text or overall learning experience for the child who likes to listen to lectures.

The biology guy is especially engaging. There are copious amounts of lectures, so you can choose only the ones you want to use. Try ebay or half.com

That said, the whole on-line experience with Thinkwell has had its technical problems, besides being $$$.

Blessings,
Stephanie
