..I think the idea is awesome. I have used an adapted version with one of my children. The question I have is how much time it will take to fill boxes daily for several children - will it work where mom is sick/pregnant/postpartum and cannot necessarily do the boxes every day?
One more question - are most people using for preschool/early elementary?

I am using it for a kindergartener, a 5th grader and high schooler. It just looks a bit different for each level.
Unfortunately, I haven't been blessed in several years now, so I can't answer your first question exactly. But I do have a busy house, and help my husband with our business. It is doable, and once you get into the habit, filling the boxes doesn't take long each day.

We've been workboxing since May. For summer we are doing 3 or 4 for each grade school age child. (I have a different system for my high schoolers.) I haven't had time to put together a blog post or pictures and my school room is a mess from organizing.
But it is working well. I usually re-boot the boxes in the afternoon after I check the days work. IF I have a plan for what I want to fill them with, loading them up is a breeze. I can direct Monica (12) to do it if I am nursing.
I have the summer planned out. I am working a grid type plan for the fall, so the thinking part is done. And some boxes are just 'do the next lesson' type of thing so there are only a few I want to be creative with.
You are a brilliant planner, Marilyn, you could make this work very well for you!

Mary I described my 5t grader's boxes in another thread already Workbox organization
I would be happy to outline my high schooler's boxes if you'd like.

LeeAnn I would love to hear about your high schooler!
Where did you get your rolling cart of drawers you mention in the other thread?

Marilyn,
In all honesty I have to admit I struggled with finding the time to fill the boxes each day. My intention was to do it in the afternoons, after our school time was over and the baby was napping. All too often though I would get involved with other things or um... justfeel lazy and not get it done. The next morning I would have to run down to the schoolroom while the kids ate their breakfast and quickly fill the boxes. I did not like doing that as it cut into my morning routine but I got really quick at "workbox filling"!
This is part of the reason that I am working on a spreadsheet to organize all my workbox materials. If I know at a glance what is going into the box it's easier to do. Last year, I wrote out my planned "workbox fillers" each week, but even then I don't think I used all the great stuff i could have. I often did my planning on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon and our weekends are so busy it was a rushed process.
This year, I am going to share my system with my 10yo daughter who just loves to organize. When things get tight, I can ask her to fill the boxes for me, at least for the younger kids. I think she would enjoy that. I will probably fill hers, because she likes the element of surprise , but if she fills the other boxes for me that would really cut down on the time it takes.
